# Getting started with SEO

> What happens after you start an SEO plan — the short setup chat, why Search Console is required, and how your agent plans and writes your first article with you.

Right after checkout, Ryze opens a short setup chat. It takes a few minutes, and then your agent takes over in the same chat. If you left before finishing, open **Home** and click the **Finish SEO setup** card under **Finish setup**.

## The setup chat

You answer one question at a time, in this order:

<Steps>
  <Step title="How you found us">
    A quick question about where you heard of Ryze.
  </Step>

  <Step title="What is Ryze SEO?">
    A two-minute video on how Ryze SEO works. Click **I've watched** to go on.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Your website">
    Enter the site you want to grow. Ryze reads it and shows what you sell, your industry and your market. Click **Yes, that's us**, or **No, let me fix it** to correct the details.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect your data">
    Connect [Google Search Console](/integrations/google-search-console) — it's required to continue, because without it Ryze can't see what Google already sends you. Connect [Google Analytics](/integrations/google-analytics) too if you can. No Search Console yet? Add your site at search.google.com/search-console, then connect it here.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Invite your team">
    Optional. Invited teammates get full access: integrations, chat and Slack. Click **Skip for now** to do it later.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Where your articles are published">
    Pick the platform your site runs on and connect it. If none fits, choose **None of these fit** and tell Ryze which platform your site runs on — Ryze then hosts your blog on a Ryze subdomain for now. You can connect your own domain later in [Blog Studio](/seo/preferences#blog-studio).
  </Step>

  <Step title="How new articles go out">
    **Publish automatically** — each article goes live on its scheduled date — or **I'll approve each one**. You can change this later in [SEO → Preferences](/seo/preferences#publishing).
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Your agent takes over

Click the button at the end of the setup, and your agent continues in the same chat:

* It checks your publishing setup.
* It offers a first set of keywords to pick, each with its monthly search volume.
* It asks a few questions about your business and what you want from SEO.
* It plans your first articles from your picks and answers.
* It lets you choose reference images, so article visuals match your brand.
* It writes your first article in your style with a generated cover, shows it to you and asks whether to publish it to your site now.

The agent never publishes, runs an audit or sets up recurring tasks on its own — it asks first, and acts only after you say yes.

## What happens next

You don't need to do anything else. Ryze plans the rest of the month's [Content Plan](/seo/programmatic) and keeps writing and publishing articles on schedule. The [Technical Audit](/seo/optimizations) runs weekly on its own. On the Traffic Printer plan, guest posts, a press release and backlinks start too — see [Backlinks](/seo/backlinks).

Track progress on **Home** — the **When to expect results** timeline and any **Finish setup** steps left. See [Home and Finish setup](/home).
