# Keywords

> How Ryze finds and chooses the keywords worth chasing — seeded from your site and business, expanded with real search data, then filtered down to the ones that can actually win.

Keywords are what your content is built to rank for. Ryze generates and selects them automatically, grounded in real search data rather than guesswork.

Find them under **Keywords** in the SEO sidebar.

## How keywords are generated

It's a three-stage pipeline:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Seed">
    Ryze derives a set of seed phrases from your site — what you sell, your industry, and the buyer vertical you serve — the starting points a buyer might search.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Expand">
    Each seed is expanded through DataForSEO into hundreds of real keyword candidates, each carrying actual **search volume**, **difficulty**, **intent**, and CPC. Obvious noise (jobs, salaries, "how to become", PDFs) is filtered out, and very low-volume terms are dropped.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select">
    An AI step picks the final set — the keywords most worth chasing.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## How keywords are chosen

The selection isn't "highest volume wins." Ryze weighs, in priority order:

1. **Real volume** — enough search demand to be worth it.
2. **On-topic** — a searcher would recognize your product as the answer.
3. **Commercial intent** — buying-intent keywords beat purely informational ones.
4. **Difficulty** — lower keyword difficulty preferred, so you can actually rank.
5. **Diversity** — no near-duplicate keywords, and no piling onto one head term.

The result is a focused set tied to your business and buyer vertical — quality over raw count.

## Status

Keywords are **active** or **inactive**. Active keywords drive the content plan for the cycle.

<Note>
  Volume and difficulty are pulled live from DataForSEO and reflect your workspace's country. Ryze never makes these numbers up.
