# Shopify SEO audit: what Ryze checks

> The checks Ryze runs against a connected Shopify store, grouped by technical, on-page, structured data, catalogue, and performance.

When you [connect a Shopify store](/connect-shopify), Ryze audits it against your Search Console data, DataForSEO rankings, and your catalogue. This is the check list.

## Technical

* Crawlability — `robots.txt` rules blocking pages that should be indexable
* Indexation — pages carrying `noindex`, and pages excluded in Search Console
* Canonical tags — missing, self-referencing incorrectly, or pointing to the wrong URL
* Redirect chains and loops
* Broken internal links and 404s that still receive traffic or links
* Pagination — broken or blocking access to deep catalogue pages
* Sitemap accuracy — non-canonical or non-indexable URLs included
* Duplicate URLs across collection paths and variants

## On-page

* Missing, duplicated, or truncated title tags
* Missing or duplicated meta descriptions
* Heading structure — multiple H1s, skipped levels
* Thin product descriptions, and descriptions copied from the supplier
* Thin or empty collection pages
* Image alt text
* Internal linking — orphan pages, and key pages with too few inbound internal links

## Structured data

* Presence of `Product` schema on product pages
* Completeness of the `offers` block — `price`, `priceCurrency`, `availability`
* Markup that contradicts the visible page, particularly price and availability
* Invalid or partial markup that will be ignored
* `BreadcrumbList` and `Organization` presence
* Review markup validity where reviews exist

## Catalogue and feed

* Missing GTINs
* Incorrect product categories
* Product titles that will not perform in shopping surfaces
* Low-resolution imagery
* Out-of-stock products returning soft 404s or removed without redirects
* Variant handling — near-duplicate pages without canonicals

## Performance

* Core Web Vitals — LCP, INP, CLS against field data
* Unoptimised and oversized images
* Render-blocking scripts, including accumulated app scripts
* Excess JavaScript
* Missing lazy-loading

## What happens after the audit

Findings are prioritised by expected impact rather than by count. Approved fixes ship within hours — see [permissions and approvals](/claude/permissions) to control what needs sign-off.

Ask the assistant directly:

> Audit my store and show me the biggest on-page SEO issues.

> Which of my collection pages are thin, and what should they say?

## Limits

The audit reflects what Ryze can read through the Shopify connection and your connected analytics. It does not evaluate commercial factors — pricing position, product quality, or brand strength — which frequently matter more than any technical finding.
