An AI visibility report showing nothing is usually a real result, not a fault. Work through the distinction before assuming something is broken.

Zero is a legitimate starting point

If your site has no factual, retrievable pages, you will not be cited. Most brands start at zero. It is a baseline, not an error. Before troubleshooting the tool, check whether the finding is simply true. See why your brand isn’t cited.

Not enough time has passed

Pages must be crawled, indexed, and then retrieved before they can be cited. That is weeks to months, not days. If you published last week and see nothing, that is expected. Reporting is weekly; meaningful trend requires a quarter.

Tracking has not run yet

Summaries are delivered weekly, on Wednesdays. A workspace set up on Thursday will show nothing until the following week. Check Agent Activity for tracking runs. If entries exist with recent timestamps, tracking is running and returning empty — which is a result, not a failure.

Your prompt set may be wrong

The prompt set is the instrument. A poorly chosen one produces uninformative data:
  • Too few prompts — volatility swamps any signal
  • Branded prompts only — confirms you rank for your own name and nothing else
  • Structurally unwinnable prompts — clusters where one platform’s own domains take nearly all citations leave little room for anyone else
See prompt monitoring.

Mentions zero but citations present

Normal, and the expected early pattern. It means your pages are being found and used, but your brand is not established enough in training data to be named unprompted. Content work moves citations. Only sustained third-party presence over many months moves mentions. See competitor share-of-voice.

Citations appeared, then vanished

Also normal. Only a minority of cited URLs repeat between two runs of the same prompt. A citation disappearing for a week is not a regression. Read the trend across a quarter, never week to week. See monitoring interval.

When it is actually a problem

Suspect a real fault only if:
  • No tracking runs appear in Agent Activity for more than a week
  • Competitor data is also completely empty across every prompt and engine — a genuinely empty field is implausible
  • The report shows an error rather than zeroes

Check your pages are reachable

If citations are zero across a long period while competitors are cited, verify your pages can actually be read:
  • Body content present in served HTML, not JavaScript-only
  • Not blocked in robots.txt
  • Not behind auth or a password
  • Present in the sitemap
